Family Sets Burial Date For Chairman of Basalt Oil & Gas Ltd
The family of late Dr. Okafor Afamefune Stanley, Chairman of Integrated Marine and Petroleum Solutions Ltd, Basalt Oil & Gas Nig. Ltd, and Noblewayz Entertainment; have announced dates for his funeral ceremony.
Dr. Okafor died on the 22nd of May, 2024, at a Lagos Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was aged 52years.
His funeral proceedings will hold as follows:

Dr. Stanley Okafor (a.k.a BASALT) was born on the 26th of April 1972, to the family of Late Mr. Iwekaọsi Okafor of Idumu-Umuiwa, Ụmụ-Dibiaokwu, Ugbaa' quarters, Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South LGA, Delta State.
He had his secondary school education at Government Secondary School, Kakuri, Kaduna State, before gaining admission to study Marketing at Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State.
Later, he went on to obtain a degree in Industrial Relations And Personnel Management at Lagos State Univerity, (LASU).
Dr. Okafor would later secure a Diploma In Cargo/Marine Survey at the University of Portsmouth United Kingdom.
Basalt as he was fondly called lived his life totally committed to humanitarian activities and community development, to which he devoted his personal resources.
He played key roles in the development of his hometown, local governmemt and state.
*In Sports*
~ He was the sponsor of Delta State Football League.
~ Aniocha/South Primary Schools Annual Football Tournament, known as "Basalt Cup".
~ He founded Basalt Football Academy, where young footballing talents are nurtured and developed.
In 2017, he facilitated the registration of Ubulu-Uku Football Association (UFA) with the Delta State Football Association (DFA), which is controlled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He became the sole sponsor of the highly respected football league for about 4 seasons consecutively from 2015, until new sponsors came on board.
What Are The Benefits of Affiliating With DFA?
- Ubulu-Uku FC can participate in the FA Cup.
- Free gate entrance for UFA officials to matches played by the national teams.
- A player can be signed from Ubulu-Uku to any football club, home and abroad.
- Match officials are assigned by DFA to officiate all Ubulu-Uku Annual Football League matches.
This move by Dr. Okafor promoted the standard of Ubulu-Uku Annual Football League as one of the best organised and most consistent grassroot football league in Nigeria.
*Community Development*
Dr. Okafor silently supported the UDC and other well meaning Ubulu people to restore electricity supply to the ancient kingdom.
*Youth Empowerment*
Through his companies, he provided numerous employment opportunities for hundreds of people.
Through Noblewayz entertainment, he signed musical artists whose names become household names in the Nigerian Music industry.
*In Education*
He underscored the need to utilize education as tool to foster community development.
To that effect, countless number of secondary school students enjoyed free education under his scholarship programme at St. Anthony's Model college Ubulu-Uku, Delta State.
For his philantropy, exemplary enterprenurship acumen and leadership skills, Dr. Okafor received both local and international accolades.
As the family and community prepares to bid him farewell, we pray for God to grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
