Onishe Of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom Kingdom Celebrates 64th Birthday
The people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have taken to social media and other platforms to celebrate the birthday of high Chief Emmanuel Onyekachukwu Ejiofor PhD, whose title and position places him as head of the administrative chiefs of the community.
Chief Ejiofor who was installed on February 19, 2005, by His Royal Majesty Obi Edward Chukwuyem Ofulue II (JP) has been a man of remarkable wisdom, grace and character.
Obi Ofuluue (II) had in his wisdom, conferred the esteemed title of Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom on the highly respected, dynamic and young Chief Emmanuel Onyekachukwu Ejiofor. This momentous event marked the beginning of a new chapter in the rich history of Ubulu-Uku.
As the saying goes, “it takes a king to have an Onishe, while it takes an Onishe to present and announce a new king.”
The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku holds significant influence as the head of the “Idimas” council of hereditary chiefs and is considered a key figure in the governance of the kingdom. The Onishe’s title, a revered hereditary position, traces its origins to the Alo lineage, which has been safeguarding this prestigious role since the reign of Obi Jeboma (also known as Obi Ogene), a regent commissioned by Obi Ojukobi nwa Obi Olise.
Historically, Obi Ojukobi temporarily abdicated his position due to a facial deformity, entrusting Obi Jeboma with the responsibility of managing the throne of Ubulu-Uku until his son, Onai, reached maturity.
The Alo descendants, having held this sacred role for generations, selected Emmanuel Ejiofor, born on April 9, 1961, to carry the Onishe title.
Emmanuel was born to the Ejiofor family in Idumu-Anụ kindred of Anisho, a descendant of Alo, whose other lineage branches are found in Idumu-Onishe of Ógbègo quarters in Ubulu-Uku.
Chief Emmanuel Ejiofor: A Man of Many Accomplishments.
Chief Emmanuel Ejiofor’s maternal lineage hails from the Abili-Mordi stock, and his mother, Mrs. Adolie Maria Ejiofor, is a descendant of Obi Ugbomor. This diverse heritage speaks to his deep connection to Ubulu-Uku and its long-standing traditions.
Academically, Chief Emma Ejiofor is highly accomplished, holding a PhD in Banking and Finance from Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State.
In addition, he earned an MPA, M.Sc, and B.Sc in Public Administration and Accountancy from Imo State University and Federal Polytechnic Oko. His academic journey reflects his commitment to excellence and his desire to contribute meaningfully to the economic development of his community.
Politically, Chief Ejiofor has been a trailblazer, playing an active role in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) since the inception of the Fourth Republic. His political foresight and dedication to public service have made him an influential figure in the governance of Delta State and beyond.
